Monte Fasce and the extension back to Monte Bastia offer numerous trail options, with the descent over the ridge to the west on the Eremita Trail being a highlight of the region.

Description

This scenic tour begins a little north-east of Genoa, in the small district of Borgoratti below the Forte Ratti. At first, the route is relatively relaxed on asphalt along the panoramic road steadily uphill towards Monte Fasce or the parking lot. When visibility is good, the view over Liguria and the Mediterranean is simply legendary - and apart from weekends and public holidays, it is usually pleasantly quiet here.

On arrival at the parking lot, you switch to gravel at the horse ranch. The following ascent is a moderate to medium gradient before you push the last few meters to the summit of Monte Bastia. Although the summit is not the highest point in the region, it offers an impressive view.

You then continue towards Punta Suia, where the actual descent begins. The first few meters are outside the vegetation zone - depending on the ground conditions, the difficulty here is between S2 and S3. The trail rides continuously downhill over sections of earth and typical Ligurian rock faces. In the Castagna Serra area, keep to the right and follow the "Eremita" trail steadily downhill. This section is varied, flowing, with small technical challenges - and brings you back to the settlement area, from where you can roll back to the starting point on asphalt in a relaxed manner.
