Monte Linzone | Ride MTB

Monte Linzone

In the far south of Lake Como, the terrain drops steeply down to the Po Valley. Monte Linzone is the last elevation near Lecco and the starting point of a first-class singletrail descent towards Bergamo.

Description

The tour starts in the inconspicuous village of Caprino Bergamasco, which lies on the road from Lecco to Bergamo. However, there is not much in the way of traffic as you climb up a country road towards Torre de' Busi. This is on the mountain road up to the Passo di Valcava. The route winds its way up around 1100 meters of altitude over many hairpin bends, turning right just before the top of the pass, slightly above the village of Valcava. This takes you to Monte Linzone, with the last section riding along a single trail and requiring a short push or two, depending on your fitness level. Finally, you reach Monte Linzone with its summit cross visible from afar. The long descent awaits. This begins tricky and demanding over the ridge down to Colle d'Albenza. From now on, the trail becomes smoother and faster and winds its way through the chestnut forest, perfectly laid out in places. Traverses alternate with steep sections, smooth sections with smaller rock gardens. In this way, you reach Burligo, climb a few more meters and then head into the next singletrail phase at the Forcella di Burligo. You pass the villages of Gronfaleggio and Celana and finally reach the starting point of the tour in Caprino Bergamasco.
