Monte Tesoro

Monte Tesoro (Lecco)

Monte Tesoro towers high above Calolziocorte at the southern end of Lake Como. Apart from the summit region, you are usually alone on this moderate singletrail route. If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you.

Description

The starting point for the tour is Calolziocorte, just south of Lecco on Lake Como. You initially follow a few side roads through the town center until you reach the road up to Torre de' Busi. This road rides up towards Passo Valcava. A little after the last right-hand serpentine below the pass, turn left onto a gravel road, reach a farm and push your bike the last stretch to the summit. There is a round concrete building on the summit. It is the "hut" of the local Alpine Club. The wonderful view belies the disgraceful concrete building and helicopter landing pad. The descent begins steep and rough, but is the only technical hurdle of the day. You reach the hamlet of Forcella Alta and then follow the ridge northwards on a fun forest trail. Eventually you reach a large country house, where you keep left and head into the actual descent. A stretch on a gravel road is the order of the day until a trail branches off to the right at Cascine di Monte Basso, which leads down to Carenno in a varied and - apart from a few individual sections - easily rideable manner. The route continues in a mix of small roads and trails just below the village. The route ends directly in the center of Calolziocorte.

Already rideable at the end of January 24, but the summit section was icy and we biked the trail below the summit. Nevertheless, we reached a great panoramic point. Then a rocky coaster trail, a bit rough, which leads into a very fast Häuserkampf trail with concrete/asphalt sections at the bottom. Very varied and, as always, well researched!
