Randen Bike Race

For a long time, there was a famous marathon race north of Schaffhausen. The competition no longer exists, but the race route is still worth a visit.

Description

From Schaffhausen, you climb up to the Griesbach riding arena (where the start and finish areas were located). Then it's downhill to Sommerwies and through the Orserental valley to Buechberghus. The route then climbs gently to Hasenbuck and on to Schwedenschanze, directly behind the transmission tower (Hagenturm) with its white dome. The route now rides downhill to the edge of the forest above Beggingen. At Strickhof, the ascent continues to Randenhus and from there downhill into the Lieblosen valley north of the village of Beringen. The final ascent is initially on a road, then on a forest path. To return to Schaffhausen, take the small road on which you initially rode uphill.
