Wannenberg | Ride MTB

Wannenberg

The Klettgau is known for its wine - but is also a popular mountain bike destination on the doorstep for many Schaffhausen residents.

Description

From Schaffhausen railroad station, take the road to the Rhine Falls and then the small roads to Aazheimerhof and Lauferberg. Follow the ridge to the Wasenhütte and then over the Wannenberg to Unterneuhaus. Along country roads you reach Trasadingen and then Weisweil. Now you climb through the Bachtobel to Albführen and then head downhill into the Wangental valley. This brings you to the ascent to the Radegg ruins, from where a crisp singletrail rides downhill again. If you want to shorten the route, ride from the ruins directly to the Rossberghof. Once again you come to the Wasenhütte, but now ride northwards via Gutmadingen and the Spitzflue back to Neuhausen. The final route to Schaffhausen station corresponds to the route from the outward journey.

Thanks for this comment. 3 years later and Ride still can't manage to publish information about trail type, i.e. forest trail, road, etc.. I would like to see high singletrack and not road riding. RIDE likes to print great pictures on glossy paper but doesn't offer a proper service regarding trail descriptions.

Whoever advertised this tour doesn't know the Schaffhausen/Klettgau trails at all. Schaffhausen and especially Klettgau have so many beautiful, flowing and above all long single trails that it is not at all necessary to ride such a long route here, 98% of which is on forest paths, dirt tracks and tarred cycle paths. That would still be possible, then you could do the tour with the whole family, but then there is such an extreme single trail downhill from the Radegg ruins (which is actually nice) that the tour can only be labeled as conceptless.
By the way, at km 31 you are suddenly supposed to ride through the forest according to the GPS and there is no other option but to push through the high brush.
