Serralada Super Tour
Description
The tour starts by the sea at Badalona train station. You can ride here from the city center on the regional train (R1 in the direction of Maçanet). Afterwards, you first fight your way through Badalona up to the Sant Jeroni monastery. Now the ascent becomes a little more challenging and rides up to the first ridge with a great view down to Barcelona. The Coll de Puig Castellar is the start of the first of the four descents - an agile, flowing path through a sea of bushes. At times, the path even feels like a tunnel. 200 Elevation losses of trail add up in this way. N°1 has delivered!
Phase two is heralded. This includes the long ascent to the Coscollada summit with its observation tower. The first part of the 400 vertical meters ride along an asphalt road, at the pass the surface changes to gravel and this is how you climb up to the summit with its sensational view of Barcelona. Singletrail descent no. 2 is on the agenda. This starts just below the summit, passes above the huge mine and develops into a fun ride of the highest order. Varied, agile and flowing, you butter towards the valley floor, interrupted only by a short gravel counter-climb. Yeah, N°2 has also delivered.
The next stage is a déjà vu with the climb up to the Coscollada summit. You ride this section twice, but the descent is different. This time it goes through the north side of the mountain. And another flow bag of the best performance class. The path leads down to the houses of Cal Tu. Here too: Gimme five for N°3!
For the final descent, you climb up to the ridge on small roads, adding up to 160 vertical meters. It's money well spent, as you'll see. The singletrail descent no. 4 leads over the south side to the Coll de la Malesa, which we know well from the ascent. And now the fireworks begin, the trails down to Badalona are super! Hardly steep, maneuverable, well negotiated in the bends by the mountain bikers, simply awesome. Interrupted every now and then by gravel roads, you whistle downhill and finally climb Montigala, a small peak directly above the first houses (and the highway). Once again, it's trail fun until you plunge under the highway into the Barcelona conurbation. You roll back to the station and end the day with the four top descents on the beach. What more could you want?
Tip: There are some good restaurants at the bottom of the N°2 descent.
Note: In the area, several signs state that cycling is prohibited on paths less than three meters wide. However, none of the local mountain bikers seem to care about this rule.

The Serralada area is truly a mountain biker’s dream—on weekdays! I don’t recommend visiting on weekends or holidays. Especially now that Collserolla (check the park’s website!) is closed due to African swine fever, everyone is flocking to Serralada de Mar Park. The tour is amazing, and it’s worth spending an extra day here to explore more trails. But be sure to bring a long-sleeved shirt and long pants. Some of the trails are heavily overgrown with bushes. But nothing that would stop you. Have fun!
Exceptionally great bike tour. Very attractive scenery. The descents are great and varied. I particularly liked descent #2: long, fast, flowing and always technically interesting. It's impressive how many trails there are on the mountain. Yes, this tour is really great!
