Monte San Primo
Description
The journey from Bellagio to Monte San Primo is quite long and covers 26 kilometers on roads and small streets. You climb up to Magreglio, roll downhill again for a good stretch to Lasnigo and then head up to Colma di Sormano via Sormano on a pass road. This is where the mountain bike part of the tour begins. Follow an alpine road to Alpe Spessola, where the road becomes rougher and more washed out. However, this way you can pedal up to just under 100 meters below the summit. The last section must be tackled on foot. Ideally, you should leave your bike at the hollow, as the descent on the ascent trail is not very attractive. However, the ascent to the summit is worthwhile, as there is hardly any other summit on Lake Como with such a fantastic view. The descent then leads over the ridge to the depression at Alpe di Terra Biotta. Turn left here and follow a singletrail down to Parco San Primo. The forest section is particularly fun to ride. Now you roll westwards on a gravel road and finally climb a few more meters in altitude on a concrete path. At the ridge, you then enter the next singletrail, which is great to ride as far as Cascina Roccolo. The next trail follows below Rovenzola, which you follow to Guggiate near Bellagio. It is alternately flowing and rough, sometimes narrow and then again two meters wide as a gravel path. The tour ends at the lakeside promenade near Bellagio.

Addendum: if you pass through Sormano, be sure to ride the Muro di Sormano, even with MTBs. 300 meters with a 25% gradient and every meter of altitude and the best times are neatly painted on the road. A cycling gem!
Here at the end of January 24 on the road, it stretches up to the summit which we skipped because of snow/ice. However, the descent on trails towards Bellagio on the ridge is great. The chapel of the Madonna del Ghisallo with the cycling museum (open from March to November) is also an absolute must-see, but the chapel with all the world champion jerseys and bikes is already amazing in itself. Great round trip with lots of views, thank you for that!
