Monte Bisbino – Muggio
Description
The first part of the tour begins on the shores of Lake Como near Cernobbio and rides up to the summit of Monte Bisbino via an asphalt road. The last few meters to the summit are covered by pushing the bike up a staircase, although you can also start the descent directly from the foot of the stairs. As soon as you have sufficiently enjoyed the sensational panorama - from Lake Como to Monte Rosa - the descent begins.
The descent starts on a crisp, rough trail down to Alpe Cavazza. The route then enters the forest, where the trail becomes winding and flowy and rides into the Valle di Muggio. Just above Bruzella, you leave the downhill trail and turn onto the high-level path that runs along the western flank of the valley towards Morbio. There are repeated ascents here, giving the trail classic cross-country characteristics. At the sports facilities, you reach a road below which a built mountain bike trail begins. However, this is so poorly built that it is better to ride up a bit and then take a more attractive downhill option to Vacallo above Sagno. Once you have reached the village, follow the local roads high above the valley floor that ride back to the center of Cernobbio.
