Alleghe Bikepark

Singletrail

Alleghe at the foot of the Civetta is a well-known if somewhat overrated bike spot in the Dolomites. However, the combination of the mountain railroads makes for a great and rewarding enduro tour on less frequented single trails.

Description

Four descents add up on this enduro tour above Alleghe - the cable cars from Alleghe and Pescul on the northern side of the mountain take care of the ascent. The day starts with the descent from the mountain station (Col dei Baldi) back to Alleghe. Follow the gravel road for a while and then there are several nice sections of trail down to the middle station (Piani di Pezze). Keep left here and follow the trail down to the center of Alleghe. Once again, head up to the Col dei Baldi, but this time for the descent to Pescul. This is not very spectacular up to Forcella Percol, but then leads over a great and fast trail down to the valley floor. Now hop on the chairlift and ride via the Rifugio Fertazza up to the Cima dei Viai with its super panoramic views of the Civetta. For the descent, initially follow the ridge and then turn left onto a steep, racy trail down to Fernazza. Immediately after the first houses, turn right onto a super trail that rides via Pinie and Peroncina to the shores of Lago di Alleghe. And again you take the gondola up to Col dei Baldi, where a bit of fitness is now required: the transfer over to Rifugio Fertazza includes a steep and crisp ascent of almost a hundred meters in altitude. The chairlift is then used again for the ascent to Cima dei Viai. The next descent is on the agenda: follow the ridge as before, then keep left again, but then turn right at the junction at Col di Davagnin and head down a varied trail to Caprile a little north of Alleghe. Return to the valley station on the cycle path. If you still have some energy left, take the gondola again, but this time only as far as the middle station (Piani di Pezze). After a few metres on the mountain road, turn left onto the marked single trail and follow this route - a flowing trail with a few challenging sections - down to the center of Alleghe.

Note: The Pesoul chairlifts are only in operation from mid-July to the end of August. The Alleghe cable car, on the other hand, operates from the end of June to the end of September.

We were there in June 25 and rode practically everything in the area. The trails are well maintained, almost completely free of fallen trees and, apart from very short sections downhill due to a lack of riding technique, were used throughout.

This tour is no longer up to date! We rode, climbed & hiked it in mid-July 2020.
