Baisse de Barrot
Description
This impressive tour begins with a long ascent on the narrow mountain road from Guillaumes up to Valberg. There are around 900 vertical meters to conquer here. After crossing the village, the route continues south up towards the bike park, which is left to the right. It is hardly worth taking the chairlift as it starts lower down.
Instead, follow the gravel road further uphill until you reach the Col de Raton after a short downhill section. This is where the last section of the ascent begins: initially a good singletrail through open meadow terrain, later it gets a little steeper until you finally reach the Baisse de Barrot. This pass marks the transition to the western flanks and also the start of the long trail descent.
This begins in S3 mode with fast serpentines, but then becomes increasingly flowy and hugs the sunny southern slope. Spectacular views accompany the ride to the small Notre-Dame-des-Neiges chapel in the hamlet of Amen. But the fun is far from over: the trail remains varied and technically challenging in the S3 range as it meanders tirelessly downhill for ten kilometers. There are always great views of the dramatic and red Daluis Gorge. At the end, you reach the main road and from here you can enjoy the last few meters back to Guillaumes.
