Hohsaas-Abfahrt
Description
The tour starts at the mountain station of the Hohsaas gondola lift high above Saas Grund. Although a gravel road rides up to the mountain station, it is very steep and not very attractive. The ascent can also be made by gondola. The singletrail descent starts directly at the mountain station, but you have to take your time to enjoy the panorama. The view up to the glaciated Weissmies is simply breathtaking. But so is the singletrail descent! A flowing and fun trail winds its way through the high alpine terrain, excellent to ride and with only a few tricky sections. It leads up to the Weissmieshütte. Now the mountain railroads send the bikers off to the left onto an initially unrideable mountain path, which then turns into a rough trail that is barely recognizable at times. However, this section has great flow potential if you put a bit of effort into it. The serpentine trail directly down from the Weissmieshütte is much more attractive, but there are usually a lot of hikers here. The descent rides to the Kreuzboden middle station. Now ascend a short distance on the right-hand side of the mountain to reach the technical winding trail down to Triftalp at the top of the mountain. This trail is narrow and steep, but a rewarding section for experienced riders. Instead of heading to Triftalp, head towards Tewald-Alp and head downhill on the super flowy single trail (marked as a hiking trail) past the St-Josephs chapel to the cable car valley station.
