Kniepssattel – Bikepark Petzen
Description
The starting point of the tour is the valley station of the Petzen cable car near Bleiburg. From here, the official cycle route first rides on asphalt and later on gravel through forests steadily uphill to the Petzenbahn mountain station. This section covers 12 kilometers and 1105 vertical meters and can be replaced with the train ride. At the mountain station, you have the option of joining the downhill trails. The longest route in Europe awaits you here at seven kilometers: a very flowy single trail and the Thriller and EWS nature trail routes.
From the mountain station, you continue along the ski slope carrying and pushing up to the Kniepssattel. This is located on the border between Austria and Slovenia and offers an impressive panorama and a technically challenging trail descent. The difficulty level of the descent is predominantly S2 with some S3 sections (wooden stairs).
After the descent to the mountain station of the Siebenhütten lift, the descent is relatively relaxed along the ski slope. Finally, you have the option of using the Petzen Bike Park on numerous variants between flow and technical trails. Overall, the park offers a varied selection of trails that are suitable for families as well as enduro bikers and downhillers.
The tour is easily doable by e-bike up to the entrance to the bike park. The saddle itself is also easily accessible with the push function.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
