Loriaz

Loriaz mit Mont Blanc (Vallorcine, Chamonix)

Steep but awesome - that's the short version of the Loriaz tour near Vallorcine. Steep uphill on an alpine road, steep downhill on a wonderfully crisp single trail. There is also a stunning panoramic view of the Mont Blanc massif.

Description

The starting point is Vallorcine, a rather inconspicuous village between Martigny and Chamonix. The warm-up phase for the ascent is quite short with the transfer to Le Buet, from where you head up a steep alpine road to Alpe Loriaz, almost 700 meters higher up. The phenomenally situated alp is a perfect place for a break, the view across to the Mont Blanc massif with the Aiguille Verte in the center and the main summit of Mont Blanc to the right is stunning.

Alpe Loriaz is the starting point of the singletrail descent down to Vallorcine. The trail start is located directly below the village of houses. The trail is easy to ride but challenging. Steps, root passages and serpentine bends alternate; flowy becomes tricky and vice versa - experienced riders will have a lot of fun on this trail. In this mode, the trail leads directly down to Vallorcine.

A really beautiful half-day ride! The climb is entirely rideable on a steep gravel road. Stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif. The descent is wonderfully natural and challenging, with a few switchbacks (mostly rideable).

Great descent and very challenging!
