Malagueta-Trail
Description
The tour starts at Serra Malagueta, right at the top of the pass between Tarrafal and Assomado. You can get up here with one of the numerous pick-up shuttles. Then you have to use your own muscle power for the time being: follow the ridge on a paved and then gravel road. Mostly uphill, quite steep at times, but also over a wonderful single trail at the end. The long and legendary singletrail over the ridge begins at the transmitter antenna - fast and fun. There is the occasional tricky section, but overall it is smooth and fun to ride. A real super trail! Four kilometers downhill in this style, then a stretch on the road, before finally descending again on a trail almost to the coast road. This finally forms the basis for the way back to Tarrafal. 22 additional but beautiful kilometers are added up in this way, with a few noticeable climbs in the program.
Note: A ticket is required to enter the Malagueta National Park (2 euros/person), this is available just below the park entrance. In an emergency, the porter will also collect the entrance fee in person.

When we arrived in Santiago, we were surprised by a major storm. This also affected a number of trails. Thanks to the guides at our hotel, King Fisher Village, we were still able to ride some of the trails. With e-bikes, this tour was the absolute top hit. The trails were equipped with everything a biker's heart could desire. Mostly super flowy, occasionally a little blocked and a short section only for absolute experts. The landscape and the view are unforgettable and will burn themselves into your hard disk. We would add this trail to our Epic list.
Oh yes, in the end we had 890 meters of altitude on the speedometer...
The end first... the last [new trail] down to Taraffal is fun. The 20km return on a cobbled road less so. The views of the bays and the sea are beautiful, but the wind and the uneven roads are challenging.
After the exhausting shuttle up to the starting point, there is a nice climb before a cool and long trail follows. Mostly S2, sometimes the sandy ground makes it more difficult.
All in all, a cool tour that you must have ridden on Cap Verde.
