Mandoal-Trail

Mondoal-Trail (Idro)

There are countless trail combinations around Lake Idro that are based on paths from the First World War. A particularly interesting and short, yet effective loop is the ridge crossing towards Parole on the eastern shore of the lake.

Description

The starting point is the small village of Vantone. Right at the start, the route gets down to business on unpaved paths. You reach a cart track that rides directly to the SP58 road. There you switch to asphalt, climb a few meters in altitude and turn left shortly before the serpentines onto a panoramic route, which also rides uphill on a natural surface. From Mandoal, continue to the viewpoint where Sentiero 455 begins. There are always beautiful views along the way - especially in spring and fall, when the vegetation is sparse or non-existent.

The descent then begins. Sentiero 455 rides steadily downhill towards Parole in a varied mix of S2 difficulties and some key S3 sections. In dry conditions, the trail is relatively easy to ride, but in wet conditions some passages become much more challenging. The trail ends in Vesta, from where you can leisurely roll along the shores of Lake Idro back to the starting point.

Note: The orientation of the route means you benefit from the evening sun - also ideal as an atmospheric sundowner tour.

A technically challenging and demanding trail that remains at the S3 level throughout. It's fun, but requires a corresponding level of riding skill.
