The tour to Nanos offers a strenuous but rewarding challenge with an impressive panorama at the summit. From the starting point in Podamos, a small road initially rides steeply uphill on asphalt. Most of the ascent is asphalted, although the path becomes even more challenging at the top, where it turns into gravel. Once you reach the top, you are rewarded with a magnificent view over the Vipava Valley and the Trieste region beyond at the transmitter.

The descent begins bumpily along the trails on the ridge to the chapel. From there, you traverse back to the ascent road and gain a few meters in altitude before continuing the actual trail descent. The path remains a little bumpy at first until you reach the Nanos inn. However, due to ethical concerns about keeping a brown bear in an unacceptably small cage (as of spring 2023), you should avoid the inn.
