Schultiskopf - Güntersfelsen

Schultiskopf (Schwarzwald)

The Schultiskopf is a tough number in the Simonswalder Valley. If you approach the trail from Furtwangen, you will find an exceptionally challenging single trail tour for the Black Forest.

Description

From Furtwangen, you roll along the Breg stream on asphalt up to St. Martin's Chapel. This is followed by a transfer section on a gravel road to the foot of the Jbichkopf. That's it for leisurely, now it gets tough. First very steeply up the mountain, then down a little-used trail and then up to the Schultiskopf. Here the trail rides partly over rocky sections where the bike has to be heaved up from time to time. This section is the reason why the route is only partially suitable for e-mountainbikes. However, if you have the strength, you can heave your e-bike over the rocks, as the passage is quite short. Finally, you reach the Schultiskopf with perhaps the most bizarre memorial plaque. It once read: "Holy St. Eustach stand by us. Protect us from poachers and scavengers, from hikers who shout and scream and spoil our good times." The second part of the saying has now been painted over in black.

The descent follows, initially very challenging, then increasingly flowing. But just when the flow starts to build, the next pièce de résistance comes - the ascent to the Höllkopf. This short section is so steep that even an e-mountain bike is not enough. A short section on foot is the order of the day, but it gets all the more fun afterwards. A beautiful serpentine path winds its way down into the valley. There is an intermediate section on a forest road before the final section down to the valley floor on the narrow mill path. Beware, this path is very narrow and special attention must be paid to possible pedestrians.

In Simonswald, the return journey is now on the agenda. To do this, follow the Simonswald valley for a while, but then branch off into the Griesbach valley and climb (initially on asphalt, then on gravel) to the Martinskapelle chapel again. Now you pass the impressive Günterfelsen rocks and roll back to Furtwangen on a variety of trails and gravel roads.

Note: The tour is located in Baden-Württemberg with the legal requirement of a two-meter rule. This tour contains elements that do not comply with this regulation. Rather, it reflects routes that are ridden by local mountain bikers. Compliance with the regulations is the responsibility of each individual mountain biker.

The path over the "Ilbichkopf" before the Schultiskopf is now a nature reserve and may no longer be used. This passage can be easily bypassed on the left via the forest path.

Thanks for the tour!

A beautiful tour away from the mainstream trails: the climbs are relaxed on tar and forest roads, the trails are great! The passage up to the Schultiskopf was no problem for my e-bike and me, every cow gate is more difficult to master.

Thank you for this tour!
