Biel-Seeland

The Bernese Seeland stretches south of Biel. The easy bike tour via Aarberg to Lake Biel provides a wonderful insight into this varied region.

Description

From Biel/Bienne railroad station, you reach the Zihl Canal and follow it to the Nidau-Büren Canal. A little after the village of Port, you climb up the Jäissberg to the Chnebelburg on a forest road. The route then rides downhill on a trail past the Roman temples to Studen railroad station. A small road takes you to the industrial district of Lyss and then follows the old Aare to Aarberg. Here there is always the option of taking one of the single trails parallel to the forest roads. After Aarberg, the route follows the Hagneck Canal to Walperswilbrügg. Through the Grosswald forest and via Siselen and Fintsterhennen, you reach Brüttelen and cross the Schalterrain to the southern shore of Lake Biel. To return to Biel, always follow the Veloland signposts.

Shuttles: You can return to Biel at any time from the various train stations along the route.
