Montoz | Ride MTB

Montoz

It doesn't always have to be the Chasseral. The Montoz lies somewhat unnoticed between Biel and Tavannes. If you like secluded mountain bike trails through the Jura, this is the place for you.

Description

From Tavannes, you climb up a small road to Bergerie le Grimm and on to Métairie de la Werdtberg. Here you reach the Montoz ridge, which you now follow through magnificent Jura landscapes. You pass various restaurants and métairies (Chaine de Montoz, La Rochette, Sur Montoz, Girod). At the Bergerie de Sorvilier, keep right and head down the singletrail to the Combe de Büren. Now roll down the southern side of the valley to Reuchenette. Passing the Métairie de Nidau, you later reach Sonceboz, from where you return to Tavannes via the Col de Pierre Pertius.

Alternatives:

  • Descent from the Mét. de Werdt directly to La Heutte
  • Descent from Montoz via the ridge path via La Châtillon to Sonceboz

I did the tour independently of Ride. Be sure to do the descent from the Maiterie de Werdt directly down to La Heutte! Very nice trail with short passages on forest paths.

Well, not enough trail fun for a tour advertised on ride.ch! Some sections are very narrow and overgrown.
Very beautiful scenery, but wouldn't ride this tour again...

Only a few 100 meters of worthwhile single trail. The rest was a senior tour, mainly downhill on forest paths. It wasn't really worth the climb. Jänu.
