Argentinian (Becs de Bosson)
Description
In contrast to the Brazilian, the Argentinian is more alpine, rougher and more strenuous. The start is in Grimentz and leads up to the Bendolla mountain station. The steep little road winds its way further and further up the mountain until finally the bike has to be carried the last 100 meters up to the Col des Becs de Bosson. The landscape and scenery up here are as unique as the single trail downhill. This leads over no less than 2300 vertical meters past the Lovégno Alp to Suen and on to the Borgne stream. It offers everything a downhill mountain biker's heart desires. However, the return to the Rhône valley involves a 300-metre ascent to get to Vex on the Bisse de Fan and on to Bramois near Sion.
Alternatives: The final ascent can be bypassed on the extreme trail through the Borgne gorge. This is reserved for very good bikers.

I think the best option at the end is the variant from the La Borgne stream (lowest point), simply return to the main road as in the track and roll forward and leave the path along the bisse. Where the track meets the road again and turns right into the hiking trail (at approx. 860m above sea level), immediately afterwards take the first hiking trail on the right towards the gorge (at approx. 800m above sea level) and ride down into the gorge. It's a cool finish and you don't have to cross the road. Afterwards you can simply roll to the station. All other variants always seemed unrewarding to me, gorge direct = unrideable, hiking trail diagonally up = extremely strenuous and not all rideable, bisses = unrewarding. Otherwise a great tour with lots of great trail meters that are not too difficult and fun.
Greetings Housi
This is the third time I've ridden it - always a great experience and a fantastic panorama. For the final section, I can only recommend riding on the road from St-Martin and then taking the last part of the "Brazilian" in Nax. This is a climb of around 180 meters.
I rode the tour on 13.8.2025. From Versoie with a light e-bike.
Nice path/trail to the Navisence river crossing, then exciting uphill singletrack along the Gougra to Grimentz. The trail towards Lac de Moiry to the "Morette" stop would probably be steep but wide and easy to ride. I took the tarred road - cars every now and then... From the reservoir (incredible turquoise!) to the Basset de Lona very pleasant dirt road, not too steep. Then wonderful traverse to Pas de Lona - practically everything smooth and rideable. Then heavy ascent to the Becs de Bosson hut. The last 100 m just pushing and carrying.
Then an endlessly long, unique descent over 2200 m to the Borgne. But a bit too much for me. See it as David described it on 1.1.2024. The ascent to the Bisse de Fan again crisp but nicely paved.
The bisse not recommended, trail interrupted and unfortunately overgrown in the middle. See comment from Info_ from 5.8.2025. The descent from Vex again smooth and fast, but not worth the detour. Next time I would probably ride out through the Borgne gorge. See David from 1.1.2024.
I tried the trail along the stream, but in my opinion it's not rideable and more of a pushing ordeal. I can't recommend this "direct" variant.
We rode the tour on 4.08.2025.
Everything was great! Only the last part along the Bisse de Fan is not recommended.
Overgrown, not flowy and halfway down the stream washed away the path, so we had to switch to the road via a pasture.
I rode this tour on 28.07.2023 after having been there years ago. As we were a bit late, we took the chairlift up to Bendolla. With fresh legs, the ascent was quite easy despite a few ramps, until the gravel path turned into a stone field. After a short carrying passage, we quickly reached the Col des Becs de Bosson. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the view was not as good as last time, so we took the next short section to the cabana under our feet. After a refreshment, we set off for the downhill. This was exactly as I remembered it. Partly flowy, partly technical, partly washed out, then again blocked or through a "gravel pit". In short, the whole range of trails. All in all, a bit too much struggle and cramp for me. This until you cross the river "La Borgne" below Hérémence. This is actually followed by the ascent to the old Bisse de Fan. I heard from colleagues that there is a lot of fallen timber at this bisse and that the trail is generally quite overgrown. We therefore decided to follow the river directly to Bramois. Well, what can I say... this trail wasn't nearly 100% rideable either. Some parts were too steep (up and down), too rocky, too exposed or too narrow. But there were also some super beautiful trails, some blasted/buried in the rocks, fun technical trails and pure flow, and all of this in a wild and romantic valley. For me, the highlight of the tour, if you are not afraid of multiple descents and short pushes/carries. I would be interested to know how you like this variant.
Despite everything, I would only do this tour in future when the weather is perfect, because the view from the Becs de Bosson is phenomenal in good weather.
I ride a Scott Genius Ultimate and am usually in the head group uphill; downhill I'm always last, by a long way
I rode the trail from La Sage (Évolène) over the Col de Torrent and the Pas de Lona. The weather was great but there were hardly any hikers. Very nice view and nice hut warden. I did the crossing of the Pointe de Tsevalire mainly on foot, as the path is very narrow and exposed. After that, the trail is a bit washed out as described, but still very nice to ride. The middle section through the wonderfully fragrant larch forests is very beautiful. After Suen, the trail is still very beautiful at first, but then there is a short section through steep and rocky terrain that is almost impossible to ride as there is a lot of rubble on the trail. The ascent towards Hérémence is then quite long. I finished the tour in Euseigne and took the Postauto-Tour back to the campsite in Les Haudères.
All in all, one of the most beautiful tours I've done so far!
We did the tour yesterday. Apparently there are a few hikers who don't like us bikers. At the beginning we thought that the slope had placed the big stones on the path. But when there were no more stones for miles around, except right on the path, it was clear that someone was trying to slow down the bikers. In some cases, it was so obvious that the flat slab of gravel lay right from edge to edge on the narrow single trail. We cleared a good 20 stones out of the way.
Apart from that, the tour is awesome!
I rode the tour on 14.8.20. Because of the other comments, we rode directly from Suen to Nax, but the connection is pretty stupid (8km with 185hm, mostly on road). Panorama is great - I'm glad I rode it as the tour had been on the list for a long time. But I wouldn't necessarily do it again ... or does the original stretch from Suen to Bramois make that much of a difference?
I rode the tour yesterday. I took the gondola from Grimentz up to Bendolla and then up the dirt road. The path has a good gradient up to the chairlift. From the chairlift onwards, sections are very steep. The last part is only possible on foot and carrying the bike. Once at the top, you have a great view. I had hoped for more from the first part of the descent, the path is very washed out. On the Alp La Zornive, I then walked up briefly to get to the descent of the Brazilian. The ride to Nax was great, singletrail and also a forest road to recover. ☺️ From Nax to Pramagnon is a great trail, almost the best part of the tour. I was amazed at how few hikers there were. In conclusion, for me there are better high alpine enduro tours.
For me, the difference between 3 and 4 in the technical rating is too close.
A 3 is no problem, here a 5 would have
a 5 would have stopped me from riding.
Great scenery, but too difficult for me.
I rode the trail on 08.08.2020. The variant with the Brazilian is really fun, but there are still a few meters of altitude to overcome to get there. A section of the single trail in Mase is currently closed. But it's not a problem, just ride down the main road after the church and you'll see the start of the trail again on the right-hand side. I last rode the Argentinian about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, the upper part is not so great anymore. You have to be very careful not to get stuck on the edges with your pedals on the now worn, washed-out, narrow path. The way back to Sierre is a little tedious, as you still have to pedal along the Rhone for about 30 minutes. But nevertheless, all in all a great enduro tour which also has a lot to offer in terms of scenery. Tip: pack your swimming trunks and treat yourself to a dip in Lac de la Corne!
I rode the tour on 19.07.2020. The path along the bisse is still marked with a "closed" sign and you have to take the road. Since, as described, the descent from Vex with the repeated crossing of the road is not very attractive, I would currently also take the variant described by Gremlin from Suen to Nax and turn into the final descent of the Brazil. At the bottom, the Lac de Brêche invites you to take a dip ;-) !
Happy trails Martin
We rode the tour on August 4, 2020. Wonderful tour despite a small onset of winter with snow from 2700 m.a.s.l. The trail (Bisse de Fan) to Vex is still closed. Therefore, the counter-climb is not worthwhile and, as martin.kindler wrote, you should take the final descent of the Brasilian. We went from Vex (at the post office) directly to La Borgne - steep downhill and some steep steps along La Borgne (not necessarily recommended).
I rode the tour on 21.7.2019. There are currently still 2 snowfields at the top, but they are easy to cross.
The trench through the Bisse de Fan to Vex is definitely not to be crossed. After about a third of the bisse there is a sign that you should follow (the repair work on the road/bridge will soon be completed, perhaps they will then also restore the bridge for the bisse)
I rode on July 22, 2019 and can only say that it's true.
The tour was incredibly good until this last climb. In my opinion, this additional 300m+ is not worth it, no less now because of the abgespert trail. I didn't find this part very interesting anyway (riding fun or landscape). And the descent from Vex is half good, half bad. In addition, you have to cross a road several times with possibly a lot of traffic and sometimes very poor visibility. So I will definitely ride the tour again, but maybe from the river La Borgne in Combioule I would try directly to Sion along the river. But I don't know if it is rideable... Does anyone know?
We rode the tour at the beginning of September - amazing!
We bypassed the counter-climb after La Borgne with a very nice loop, largely on the Switzerland Mobil route 'Valais Alpin Bike' via La Luette - Euseigne. A very beautiful and scenic variant (descent from Trogne to La Luette, pyramids of Euseigne). At Euseigne approx. 1 km on the main road, then shortly after Sauterot turn left up to the Bisse de Fan.
Enjoy the trail!
We changed the tour a little and started in Chalais and took the train to Vercorin to save a few meters in altitude. We then rode over the Alp Tracui d'en Bas along the mountain towards Grimentz.
Shortly before the Bendolla mountain station, we turned into the alpine road and then climbed steeply towards Becs de Bosson.
This is a pleasant ascent up to about 2400 meters, then steeper and steeper along the ski lifts, depending on your condition you can ride everything up to the top station of the top lift (2874 meters).
From there, the steep run to the pass and the short high-level trail to the hut follow.
From the hut, the descent first follows the slope on a beautiful trail in stony terrain and then turns into flowing trails on the meadow.
Once you arrive in Suen, you can shorten the route depending on how much time you have and how fit you are and then ride along a high-level trail to Mase/Vernamiege and Nax and from there take the descent of the Brazil route into the valley.
You should allow enough time for this tour, the ascent from Bendolla is tough and the descent is long, following the route there is another 300 m ascent.
The trail is in great condition, so if you like riding alpine and natural trails and also like to push your bike a bit, this is the right place for you.
Many greetings Dani
Although the alternative is very scenic, it is not recommended in my opinion:
- The path is often too narrow (handlebars do not fit between the rock and the railing).
- Provided with some stairs (up and down)
Otherwise a great tour!
