Seilbahn zum Corne de Sorebois

The Corne de Sorebois lies at the very back of the Val d'Anniviers and is accessible by cable car from Zinal and Grimentz. The best thing about it is that great MTB trails ride down into the valley in all directions.

Description

The tour begins with the first-class single trail from Zinal to Grimentz. This nestles wonderfully on the northern flank of the Sorebois and is not an enduro trail, but a flowing high-altitude trail with lots of riding pleasure. If you want to shorten the tour, take the gondola directly from Zinal to the Espace Weisshorn. Those who prefer the wonderful trail to Grimentz can also ride the gondola to Espace Weisshorn, but from the Grimentz side.

From Espace Weisshorn, the route climbs a little on a gravel road up to Corne de Sorebois, where a fantastic view opens up over the entire Val d'Anniviers, especially of the numerous four-thousand-metre peaks, which seem almost close enough to touch. The descent from the Col de Sorebois to the Moiry reservoir is smooth, fast and extremely fun, as is the section from the dam wall down to the valley floor. The lowest section to Grimentz is a little rougher, which means that the first descent of the tour is dry.

Afterwards, take the gondola up to Espace Weisshorn again, but don't continue towards the summit, but follow the official mountain bike trail to the Sorebois middle station. This flow trail is unspectacular and boring; the second section on the Tsirouc Trail is much more interesting. This runs along the north side of the mountain and was extensively renovated in 2025. The result is probably one of the most fun trails in the Val d'Anniviers. It ends practically directly in Grimentz and is undoubtedly the highlight of the tour.

For the third descent, you get back on the gondola to the Espace Weisshorn and follow the less exciting flow trail to the middle station. From there, things get exciting again: a varied, flowing and playful single trail connects the middle station with the valley floor. Almost 800 meters of the finest trail fun form the worthy final section of this downhill-oriented tour in the rearmost part of the Val d'Anniviers.
