Col de Riedmatten
Description
From Hérémence, you take the mountain road to the Grande Dixence dam and have already climbed over 1000 meters in altitude by this point. The alpine path along the Lac des Dix takes you to the upper end of the lake, the Pas du Chat. From now on, the going gets tough: the bike has to be carried almost 600 meters in altitude through high alpine terrain. Good shoes are a must here, as is experience in alpine terrain. The scenery is unique, however, as you are at the foot of the glaciated Mont Blanc de Cheilon. The descent towards Arolla is also a tough one, with the first section in particular being very difficult to ride. As the distance increases, the trail becomes smoother and finally leads to Les Haudères and on to Evolène as a fast trail. To get back to Hérémence, you should ideally follow the mountain road.
Note: Dix cable car does not transport bikes

The Lac des Dix is a federal hunting ban area and therefore clearly forbidden for bikes, which is signposted both at the Hotel de Barrage and again at the top of the dam wall.
Hi, just to clarify: Hunting ban area is not the same as a general bike ban ? Are you allowed to ride/push/carry your bike on marked paths and trails even in a hunting ban area?
