Anaga-Trails
Description
The tour starts in Las Mercedes, near La Laguna, the highest district of Santa Cruz. Climb up into the Anaga region on small roads and turn left shortly before Cruz del Carmen. Follow the road for a while until a trail branches off to the right and rides through the north side of the ridge. After just a few meters, you are immersed deep in the dense, green forest, which is characterized by moss-covered trees and bright ferns. The trail is flowing and easy to ride, mostly with soft soil as the surface. It winds its way down into the wild side valley. After crossing a gravel road, the trail becomes a little more technical before ending at the bottom of the valley after around 450 Elevation loss. Here you reach a small road.
On this road, you climb uphill again, soon reaching the larger road to Los Batanes and climbing further up through the lush, green landscape. Finally, you reach the Mirador de Zapata, which offers a fantastic view of the upper region of Santa Cruz and Mount Teide. The Mirador also marks the start of a great trail descent on the south side of the ridge. This section is a little more technical than the first trail, but remains mainly in the S1 range with a few S2 sections. The vegetation changes in that the south-facing section is dominated by visibly different plants.
Finally, you reach the asphalt Camino del Monte. Here the route climbs briefly before heading left over the ridge into the final descent. This leads down to Tegueste at a similar level to the rest of the route, where you climb the last ascent via country roads to the transition that leads back to Santa Cruz. From there, it's a relaxed ride on a side road back to the starting point.
Conclusion: This tour belongs on every Tenerife bucket list. It offers a completely different insight into the island, far removed from the typical tours at the foot of Mount Teide.
Note: In Tenerife, driving on the official hiking routes is prohibited. The. However, the ban is consistently ignored by local mountain bikers. It is advisable to avoid the weekends because that is when many locals are out and about. It is the responsibility of each individual to ride this route on a mountain bike, with full awareness of the legal situation.

Cool thing, really good trails from flowy to pretty rough, everything there. Some of the blackberries spoil the flow.... One thing that could perhaps be seen as a negative is that all the climbs are on asphalt. But you get up quickly. But it is recommended.
