Morra del Pinar

Morra del Pinar (Teneriffa)

On this tour, you drive through the entire east coast of Tenerife including a bus shuttle with a tour start at 2060 meters above sea level.

Description

The tour begins with a bus ride from Costa Adeje to the Teide National Park. The starting point of the descent is at the crossroads near Boca Tauce. From here, you first ride along the main road through the impressive lava fields. Off-road biking is strictly prohibited in Teide National Park, which is why the road is the only permitted option. After around six kilometers, you reach a gravel road on the left, which you follow downhill. Shortly afterwards, a trail signposted as a hiking trail branches off to the right, which forms the basis for the first part of the long descent. This section is technically challenging, as the trail rides through lava fields with a surface that often resembles coarse gravel. However, the scenic experience is breathtaking and more than makes up for the challenge. Further down, the trail dips into the pine forest, becomes smoother and offers plenty of riding fun with its flowing course. Finally, you reach the main road above Chío. From here, you climb about 160 meters up the road until you turn right into another hiking route in a long left-hand bend. This finally leads down to Guía de Isora as a trail.

As there is no direct descent to the coast due to a lack of trail options, there is a longer transfer section on the asphalt road (TF82) over to Barranco de las Torres (12 kilometers). This village is located just above Costa Adeje, where the tour began. For the final section, there is one last trail that starts at the highway entrance and rides through the barren hinterland of the coastal region. The descent ends at Playa La Enramada. If you want, you can cycle along the coast to Costa Adeje from here - although this route is often very busy. Alternatively, you can take the quieter roads one level further inland, which are much more efficient.

Note: In Tenerife, driving on the official hiking routes is prohibited. The. However, the ban is consistently ignored by local mountain bikers. It is advisable to avoid the weekends because that is when many locals are out and about. It is the responsibility of each individual to ride this route on a mountain bike, with full awareness of the legal situation.

I didn't take the bus but hitchhiked up the 1400m from Guía de Isora. But beware, the first 450m are done in 4km... The rest is ok. This tour is scenically cool but in my opinion the riding technique should be a 5 and not a 4. I don't think I'm such a bad downhiller, but I did a lot of walking here.
If I compare the tour with the Pico del Inglés - Valleseco, which has the same riding technique rating, I rode almost everything on this tour.
