Description
From Doussard, the route climbs gently uphill on a small road along the Ire stream through a wild and romantic forest landscape. After just under nine kilometers, you cross the stream and take the gravel road that branches off to the right for the rest of the ascent. Initially at a moderate gradient, it becomes increasingly steeper and more challenging. E-bikers cope well with the ascent, but without a motor it is a 650-metre climb. The less spectacular culmination point is reached at Les Platières (1700 meters above sea level)
.The descent starts with a crisp trail, after which you roll on to the Refuge de la Combe. Now the highlight of the route begins: the descent through the rocky northern flank of the Montagne de Charbon. The path is well developed, but caution is still advised. The ground can be treacherously slippery, especially when wet! The rock passage is followed by fine gravel karst sections with some nasty hairpin bends. As the distance increases, however, the trail becomes smoother and you end up flowing through the fairytale forest at a good pace. After around 900 meters of varied, first-class and spectacular singletrail fun, you roll the last stretch on a gravel road and finally on an asphalt road back to the starting point.

Tour on 11.10.23 with my Specialized Enduro. Route as described. Ascent absolutely doable with good fitness and a low gear. 2 to 3 really short pushing passages downhill guaranteed. Long and varied trail guaranteed on the descent. Beautiful tour in a beautiful area.
