Cima di Dentro
Description
From Bellinzona train station, ride through the old town towards Monte Carasso. Instead of crossing the River Ticino, follow the trail downstream to Giubiasco and on through the Magadino plain to Cadenazzo, Contone and finally Quartino. Here you follow the hiking trail to Monte Ceneri. The first few meters are still asphalted, but you soon find yourself on a steep and strenuous Roman path up to the top of the Ceneri Pass. Here you cross the military installations and follow a forest road to Robasacco. Now you climb almost 600 meters in altitude to the terrain point 1038 east of the Cima di Medeglia, where you turn off to the large transmitter antenna on the high plateau far above the Magadino plain. Follow the mountain road for a few meters until a hiking trail to Giubiasco is marked on the left. Follow this path, initially still very technical and on steep terrain, but later increasingly smoothly down to the village of Camorino. You pass Giubiasco on local roads and return to Bellinzona.
Alternative: Take the train from Bellinzona to Rivera (south of Monte Ceneri).

Did the tour on August 7, 2025.
From a technical point of view, everything is actually rideable. However, there is a risk of falling over about 1 km with a fatal outcome.
In my opinion, you can't suggest something like this as a bike tour. Crazy!
We drove up directly from Cadenazzo via Robasacco. We almost didn't find the start of the descent. It was only thanks to the hiking trail markings that we finally saw the start in the very high grass.
Unfortunately, it rained during the night and riding was out of the question in the upper section. The lower section was cool and fun.
The upper part is definitely S4, but for good technicians it is almost always rideable and fun. However, a short section in a rocky passage is so steep that the bike has to be carried.
The lower part is then very smooth. A worthwhile tour even in November.
We rode the tour on 5.9.2021. Once you have left the Roman road behind you, you come to an electricity station. From here, follow the Ceneri Bike Route 393 in the opposite direction, past the football pitch, up the bends until you are back on the ride route. The Roman road is very steep. It then goes well up to Cima di Dentro. From there, follow the road to the first hairpin bend and then take a vertical descent. As described by others, the first 300-400 Elevation loss are only partially rideable.
Rode the tour on June 26, '21. Beautiful, varied, scenic tour, no more rockfall. It was not possible to cross the military facility on Monte Ceneri - as the track suggests - so we rode around it. The downhill trail is very narrow and technical on the first 400 Elevation loss (roots, boulders, high stone cross-channels) with a risk of falling -> almost vertical sideways. The hairpin bends are therefore S4 in places for Dany & Tom : ). After that it gets better, although also technical, but easy to ride (S2 - S3). This section was fun.
I rode Cima de Medeglia today, it's not rideable, another big rockslide on the way.
In the fall, when there is a lot of foliage, the section from the start of the descent at Cima di Dentro to Piano della Monica is not rideable. This means walking downhill for around 30' or 300 m.a.s.l.!
