Val Verzasca
Description
The tour starts in Sonogno at the far end of Val Verzasca. The post bus rides here, and ideally you can get here from Locarno or Tenero. The first part of the route follows the signposted mountain bike route (399 Alta Verzasca), which alternates between gravel paths, small roads and single trails, always following the Verzasca river out of the valley. The official route ends in Brione, but we now follow the Verzasca valley downhill. The single trail on the right bank of the river is not rideable, which is why, due to a lack of alternatives, you are now primarily on the mountain road. Eventually you reach the reservoir and the imposing and world-famous dam wall at Selvatica. For the last stretch down to Tenero, you leave the road and roll along a gravel path and a singletrail section to Gordemo and from here down to Tenero via steps and winding paths.
Tip: Bike transport on the PostBus must be booked in advance by calling 0840 852 852

The lower section to Tenero is definitely no longer a level 1 ride due to the many and sometimes steep steps! If you're not really experienced here, it's better to stay on the road. On one section of stairs, even my handlebars were too wide ;)
The Verzasca bike up is very scenic. After Brione, however, it is no longer very worthwhile in my opinion, although the landscape is very beautiful.
It should be mentioned that a light on the bike is mandatory on this route. Otherwise it is extremely dangerous on a MTB in the long tunnels.
Very scenic route. The driving pleasure is limited, however, as there are too many roads.
