Alp Luc | Ride MTB

Alp Luc

Small asphalt roads ride through the steep southern flanks in the lowest section of the Misox to the Alps, which in turn are connected to the valley floor by single trails. Ideal starting point for mountain bikers! One of these unknown routes is the descent from Prepiantò to Roveredo.

Description

From Roveredo, you initially roll along the main road to San Vittore and then turn right at the edge of the village onto the asphalt ascent via Giova to Prepiantò. This route covers 1140 meters in altitude. The descent begins at a small reservoir, where you can enjoy the wonderful view from Alp Propiantò a little later. Then it's time for the singletrail descent to Giova. The old mule track rides as a single trail with countless hairpin bends through the chestnut forest. Above Giova, follow the forest road for a short stretch to a farmhouse, where a singletrail begins just behind it. The path is not always easy to find on this section, but with a GPS device and loaded track it is no problem. The trail then rides with many tight bends and in the rough Ticino style over almost 700 vertical meters past Alp Luc down to Roveredo.

The ascent is very pleasant on a little road with little traffic. Unfortunately, the first 200 meters are not rideable due to fallen trees. The rest of the descent is typical of the Ticino. Rough, relatively demanding, cool and not always easy to find. More bikers should ride these trails. Then it would be even more fun. On the tour you eat what you take with you...
All in all, a beautiful tour on a sunny slope.

I was there on 07.08.23.
Dear ride community, we definitely need to ride there more! The trail is slowly disappearing. And that would be a shame considering the quality. Comfortable access road on asphalt, fine forest soil on the first section, crisp hairpin bends on the second section. In Giova it is not necessary to climb over any fences, the trail runs below the private property and is easy to find with GPS.
At 400m there is still very high grass, then the path is clearly visible and very fun.

Highly recommended.

Yes, the trails were really tough and really adventurous through the "jungle".
I was suddenly standing in front of a gate and opened it because there was no sign.
The path then probably led across private property and there was a fence at the "exit" (approx. at km 17.9)
I then balanced the bike over it and off we went into the jungle...

We rode this tour today. The path is actually not easy to find. Didn't quite make it despite the GPS.
The ascent is tip top. At the top there is a cozy bench with a beautiful view for refreshments from the backpack. Follow the hiking trail down to Giova. Cool, continuously rideable trails. We also found the forest road and the trail starting behind the farmhouse. From meter to meter, however, we doubted more and more whether we were on the right track. The trail is very overgrown and wild. After the clearing, we searched quite intensively for the next trail despite the navigation system. But we were happy to discover the yellow markers and follow them. Again, thanks to the yellow dots, you know you're on the right track. At some point, however, we should have left the yellow dots. We missed it and just followed it. Which turned out to be a mistake. Due to the steep terrain, turning back was not an option for us. Which was also a mistake. We had to push a long way down and then even lose the altitude on an asphalt road at the end.
The whole tour is probably pretty ok, but extremely wild and overgrown. We had a hard time with it. But have fun looking for it. If you want to ride something adventurous, it's definitely the right thing to do.
