Corona di Pinz
Description
The ascent begins right in the center of Ascona, where you ride a few meters to Monte Verità, but then roll high above Lake Maggiore to Gruppaldo. Now you wind your way up the mountain in countless bends on an asphalt road, pass a barrier and roll on to the ridge below the Corona di Pinz. A detour to the summit just above is worthwhile for the view. Then you head into the descent, a fun singletrail experience past small Alpine settlements. Just north of Arcegno, you reach a small road, but follow the next trail on the opposite side of the road. From the north side, you return to Monte Verità this way and rumble the last few meters over a staircase directly to the Ascona promenade.

Rode the tour on 30.07.24 with my Specialized Enduro. Steep ascent but no problems. Route with few steep and technical sections. Rather little flow. Dry conditions are preferable. Trail for good bikers. There are certainly better ones in Ticino.
Ascent very doable and pleasant gradient.
Trail in good condition. At the top there is a short detour due to logging. Later, lots of steps and a few hairpin bends. Too little flow for my taste.
Trail was in good condition but many spots were covered in leaves. This is a fun descent but I found the flow to be broken by the many stairs. For approximately the same amount of climbing, I think the Cardada trail above Locarno is more fun.
I rode the lap today. Absolutely awesome. The prerequisite is that you have dry conditions. Lots of roots and stones. Not for beginners. Wonderful views on the way up. Would skip the stairs at the end near Ascona. For the sake of the bike and the people.
We rode the tour a few days ago. Condition is good, almost everything rideable. Super enduro tour, highly recommended. Pleasant ascent on the road. At KM 13.7 continue riding on the trail instead of the gravel road. Would rate the trail descent from S2-S3, with lots of stairs, but also flowy sections.
We had about 3.1/2 hours (were traveling comfortably). With a break on the di Pinz, I would estimate 4 hours.
I rode this beautiful tour today. The trail is in good condition. The section at Monte Verita is closed. I would also rate the tour as difficulty 4. In my opinion, this corresponds more to a 4-ride tour than a 3-ride tour
Rather stair-heavy trails. The descent is completely in the shade at this time.
Yesterday I did the tour during our vacation in Ascona. The climb is almost endless, but the road is perfect. It's all tarmac and the gradient is moderate with a few exceptions. In between, you ride through the forest, and I can imagine that it gets very hot in summer in the open areas. When I finally reached the top, I was already soaking wet, although the temperature was ideal. Equipped with the appropriate protective gear, I plunged into the descent. Partly flowing, then rough steps, and again and again the stairs that were almost impossible to ride. At times the trail resembled a stream bed with lots of nasty stones. Some parts are also exposed and the trail is very poorly marked. Basically a nice tour, but not for beginners. Given the current condition of the trail, I would rate the level of difficulty one or two levels higher.
You have to pedal your way up; very hard in the sun!
The first part is very flowy through beautiful deciduous forests. After that it soon gets rough: lots of roots, stairs, hairpin bends and loose stones. Definitely not recommended for beginners.
Difficulty mostly S3 - could ride everything except for one hairpin bend
Very nice tour. Fortunately the weather was not so hot and so the ascent was pleasant. The descent was often very flowy but overall I would rate the riding technique as a 4.
Hello bikers
The Corona di Pinz is a very nice trail. The ascent on tar is easy to manage with a pleasant gradient.
In summer it will really work up a sweat. As it is ridden quite a lot in the sun.
But once you reach the top, the panorama is very beautiful.
The descent through the forest is great. Roots, blocked sections, stairs, small bridges and the occasional steep section.
Must be done!!!!
You can see what it's like in my video! Have fun......

Super nice tour.
The ascent is long and drawn out.
The first part of the trail is great fun.
On the second part, you can only very rarely take your hand off the brakes and there are a lot of steps.
I would have given the riding technique 4 ■.
There is only real flow in the first part of the trail.
All in all, however, a nice tour
Forestry work is finished, the lower part of the trail is passable again. Technically, however, everything is rideable, with a few exceptions. Che bello!
P.S. The gelato in Ascona tastes even better after this super trail!
Ridden on 23.05.2021
Ascent is long, but mostly pleasant gradient. Good in spring, in summer it probably grills your head, as only about 50% +/- is shaded, the other 50% is under the blazing sun. The descent is not too rough, but there are endless carpets of roots, which only occasionally allow for some real flow. All in all, a nice tour that can be done in 5 hours gross.
Demanding route, steep, many steps. Not recommended with a CC bike.
I rode the tour today and it was a lot of fun! The trail is a lot of fun, I had a few steps and hairpin bends, but basically everything was rideable and rollable.
The trail from 20.4km to approx. 21km is not rideable due to woodwork. Can be bypassed.
Beautiful tour with a pleasant ascent, as of April 1, 2021 only a little snow at the top, but the path has hardly been ridden free yet. In the lower part short section closed due to logging. If no work is taking place but otherwise bypass possible without any problems.
We rode the tour today, in slightly damp conditions.
The ascent on asphalt is long, but the gradient is quite pleasant and the views of the lake are beautiful.
The descent begins with a good flow, but some root carpets were quite tricky due to the humidity.
The lower section is a bit rocky in places and peppered with many steps and occasional stairs. As average riders, we descended a few times but were able to ride most of it.
The lowest part before Arcegno (after 20 meters on asphalt) is great again. We rode the final section (below the little road to Arcegno) directly to Losone instead of heading towards Monte Verita. That was also good for us.
All in all, a great tour that we would love to ride again!
Ridden on 01.09.2020. Ascent quite steep but easy to manage. First trail section easy to ride and partly flowy. However, the second and longer section is very challenging and only rideable in phases. Partly due to the storm at the end of August 2020, but also because the trail is very rocky and has lots of steps.
Possibly interesting for enduro specialists but I wouldn't ride the trail again.
Rode the tour today. Wonderful, pleasant ascent with a brilliant panorama. The descent is a firework trail. Offers everything. Sometimes flowy, sometimes rough, sometimes a bit blocked, but mostly rideable. Highly recommended.
Tour with very beautiful views. Sunny ascent. The descent starts great, but then becomes less and less flowy until it's a real mess. Not really fun to ride (numerous stairs, blocked).
I or we would not ride it again.
Riding technique: rather 4 than 3
We rode the tour today in temperatures of over 30 degrees. The ascent is in the sun at the beginning and is therefore quite strenuous, but gets a bit shadier later on. The ascent is very doable (even with a 160 mm travel fully if you are fit) and you are constantly rewarded with a breathtaking view of the lake. The first trail section is a little steep at times and has lots of loose leaves, but is very nice afterwards. Second part on many rocky steps and over numerous stones. Not recommended without a fully equipped bike and appropriate riding technique (at least S2-S3). But otherwise a treat. Would ride it again.
