La Cima

La Cima (Malesco)

The La Cima mountain lies inconspicuously high above Malesco in the Valle Vigezzo between Locarno and Domodossola. It impresses with a magnificent view and a 1000-metre-long flowing singletrail descent.

Description

From the center of Malesco, pass the church and then climb up on an asphalt road towards Valle Loana. After the Sasso di Broglio chapel, turn left and climb up a gravel road to Alpe Cortino. Now it's time to walk to the summit of La Cima, adding up to almost 350 meters in altitude. At the summit cross, there is a wonderful view of the Val Vigezzo, the Monte Rosa massif and the wild region of the Val Grande National Park to the south. The descent along the ridge is initially very challenging, but becomes increasingly smoother. After the Kapelle Group at the latest, the best riding fun is the order of the day. You cross the road from Malesco into the Valle Cannobina and continue unabated on single trails down to the valley floor of the Valle Vigezzo. Finally, you roll back to Malesco on country and goods roads.

Ridden on 24.6.2023.
First part uphill very pleasant. 2nd part then shoulder and steep uphill.
Beautiful view.
First par 100m only for all Macaskills or Öhlers...then more and more flowy (who dares in the high grass and leaves).

Mic and I did the tour on 11.6.22.
A pleasant ascent at the start on tar, followed by gravel, nicely shaded. When we reach the group of houses, we take a steep right. Shouldering the bike is then the order of the day for the next 300m or so, the terrain is really steep all the way!
The view at the top makes up for all the exertion, awesome!
The trail was only partially rideable for us at the start. But it gets better and better and is really fun.
