Alpe Vercio

Alpe Vercio

Alpe Vercio is a great vantage point high above Lago di Mergozzo. The place is easily accessible by bike via a small road and a beautiful mountain path, the descent is then quite rough via the old access path.

Description

The tour to Alpe Vercio starts in the beautiful village of Mergozzo and then follows the lakeside road to Fondotoce. The ascent begins here, first on the main road to Bieno, then after just under 1.5 kilometers you branch off to the left and climb up a small mountain road to just before Ompio. As soon as the road ends, keep left and follow the singletrail to Alpe Vercio. This trail is easy to ride, but contains a few "fun brakes" where the bike has to be pushed a few meters. Eventually you reach the first houses of Alpe Vercio, where the descent down to Bracchio would also begin. However, it is worth making a detour to the promontory, where you can enjoy an excellent view down to Lago di Mergozzo and Lake Maggiore beyond. The descent is then via the old access path to Alp. Although this historic path is easy to ride, it is quite rough in places. Everyone will be glad of a full-suspension bike here. The descent ends directly in the village of Bracchio, from where, due to a lack of alternatives, the last few meters down to Mergozzo are spent on the access road. Ideally, the tour ends with a cappuccino on the beach promenade in Mergozzo.

The descent is on the old path as described.
I don't think it's a good descent on the trail.
Just an old path, with stones

Very nice tour as described. Descent cool and rough.
