From Verbania's lakeside promenade, you roll through the residential areas to the junction of the road up to Monte Rosso. The agriturismo on Monte Rosso is a good place to stop for refreshments before following the marked trail back down towards Verbania. A little after the large iron gate, keep right and follow a fun mountain trail to Cavandone on the western side of Monte Rosso. You pass the pretty village and head for the final descent at the church, which is a little rougher than the start. The trail ends at the lakeside road, along which you return to Verbania.

Great ride—I did this one on July 10, 2026. It’s typical of the region: steep climbs, then lots of big rocks on the descent and extremely dry conditions, similar to Ticino. A fun ride early in the morning or in the late afternoon. Definitely more flow than Alpe Vercio.
