Derborence
Description
The tour starts in Ardon a little west of Sion, heads to Conthey via local roads and climbs up the mountain road to Aven. The ridge is reached at St-Bernard, followed by a spectacular ride towards Derborence. The road rides through extremely steep terrain, repeatedly through tunnels, from where you can often look down into the Lizerne gorge. At the far end of the valley, the scenery becomes more pleasant again, with another 100 meters of ascent to the village of Derborence. Refresh yourself here either at the inn or with a picnic at the small mountain lake. The return trip rides on the right side of the valley opposite the ascent. First there is a section of singletrack that is easy to ride, then a wonderful path that leads out of the valley high above the Lizerne Gorge. Finally, you reach Montau, from where the route starts on trails and ends on a small road through the vineyards back to Ardon.

The tour could be deleted. I don't think anyone goes to the trouble of restoring the path/bridges! In the first part of the descent there were still problems with the ranger - it's a nature reserve!
We do not delete tours but consider the comments to be important information for all those who are considering the route. If we delete the route, this useful information is lost.
Departure is still not possible.
The trail on the right side of the valley is unfortunately not passable and the no hiking sign is rightly there. Trees lie across the trail and bridges have been destroyed by avalanches. Too deep gullies had to be passed in crumbling fall terrain. We turned back and headed down the road
I did the tour yesterday. The ascent is really beautiful. It's easy to ride and the view is breathtaking. But the descent is not worthy of a ride in my opinion. The first part is really cool, but unfortunately only short. After mastering a few more vertical meters, you come to a forest path (so really 2-lane) and unfortunately you only leave this many Elevation losses later to ride a trail again very briefly. For dessert, the last approx. 150 m of elevation gain are destroyed on a tarred road.
I wouldn't do this tour again on a bike, but I would do it on a road bike up to Derborence and back on the same road.
