Sept-Bisses-Tour
Description
From Leuk railroad station, climb up to the village of Leuk and continue from there to Varen. Here you climb up towards Varneralp until the Grossi Wasserleitu branches off to the left. Follow this bisse, which you later connect with the Bisse Neuf and follow it to the road between Venthône and Mollens. Pass the top vineyards and the funicular to Crans-Montana, then immediately join the signposted mountain bike route 184 (Crans Montana Bike Marathon) and follow this to Chermignon. Follow the road uphill for a while until the path to the Grand Bisse de Lens leads off to the left. Follow this for almost five kilometers, then head downhill on the ridge of the Châtelard before immediately turning left onto the trail towards Sarmona. This is the connection to the Bisse de Claveau, which then rides through the vineyards to the gates of Sion. Here you can descend into the town center or climb along the Sionne stream to the Bisse de Leitine. This forms the long and wonderful final stretch almost as far as Conthey. You finally roll back to Sion along the main road.

Wonderful tour along the impressive irrigation channels. Great views over the Rhone valley and ideal to ride in late fall. The tunnel at 31.5km was not passable for me - too narrow and no light - and should definitely be mentioned in the tour description and the trail towards Villa (31.1km) given as an alternative.
Was it impossible to pass through the tunnel even with the front wheel removed?
Light in the tunnel is a matter of luck - always bring a light source (cell phone is sufficient)
Did the tour yesterday. Everything was great, dry and very sunny for November. I had to push hard for the light in the tunnel. Got through with our 27.5 inch wheels without dismounting.
Very few hikers except for the last section around Sion.
Long, varied and beautiful tour with lots of nice, fairly easy trails.
Hello everyone, we did the tour on 11.8.21. The tunnel was passable and the lights worked. Dismantle the front wheel and off we went.
As an alternative to pedaling up to Varen, you can take bus no. 471 to Leukerbad. Get off at the Rumeling stop. From there there is a direct route to Varen and the trail.
Regarding katjapogo's comment; the tunnel is no longer passable and has to be bypassed in the direction of Villa. Otherwise a very nice tour.

The light in the tunnel is not working at the moment (30.6.21), so make sure you take a headlamp with you! The attempts to get through in the dark and then the bypass took me about 1 hour.
Apart from that, a very nice tour with the Valais specialty -- the Suonen/Bisses -- en mass. By the way, most of the 50km have to be pedaled, riding up and rushing down is somehow not possible! :)
Tour ridden on Easter Sunday 04.04.2021. There are no bike bans on this tour. Only over the vineyards of Sion there was a hiker but absolutely no problem. Otherwise a great spring tour. And, yes, at the tunnel we had to remove the front wheel to get through.
A great tour in the fall, riding technique and fitness are in line with the information given. Important :-) take a tool with you to turn the handlebars, the tunnel above Sion is really narrow, .... at least for the handlebars
Is it still possible to ride this tour or is it forbidden to bike along the Suonen? Somehow all the brochures say that this is not allowed.
