Lauchernalp | Ride MTB

Lauchernalp

The Lötschental is surrounded by glaciers and mountains almost 4000 meters high. Down in the valley, however, there are plenty of single trails, many of which are integrated into the route to Lauchernalp.

Description

The tour starts at Goppenstein railroad station, where you can easily travel from the Bern/Thun region and Brig. For the first section, follow the main road into the Lötschental valley. In Ferden, you descend to the Lonza and follow it on the south side on cart tracks and single trails to Blatten. If you want to make this strenuous ascent easier, follow the main road in Ferden as far as Blatten. Eventually you reach the Fafleralp - again there is a more strenuous version next to the road and an easier asphalt version to choose from. At Fafleralp, the singletrail fun begins as you follow the Lötschental Panorama Trail. The wonderful path leads past the Schwarzsee lake to Tellialp, then you ride along a forest road for a while until you climb up to Weritzalp on a singletrail. Here you are back on the panoramic trail, which you now follow to Lauchernalp. Here you leave the official panoramic trail and take the flowing high-altitude trail almost to Kummenalp. A few meters before the first houses, turn left onto the great descent to Ferden. Follow the trail on the left side of the valley back to Goppenstein.

Note: This tour is inspired by the book "Singletrails in the Swiss Alps" by Jürg Buschor. However, the much more attractive version of the route is in the opposite direction and is described here with the tour "Lötschentaler Höhenweg".
