Tatz-Trail

Tatz-Trail

Hohtenn is known as the starting point of the legendary BLS south ramp. But if you ride up the mountain here for once, you will get a full downhill load of super trails past the hamlet of Tatz.

Description

The ascent is quickly explained: from Gampel, the route leads uphill on the road to Hohtenn, then on to Tatz and finally to Spilbielalpji. Most of the route is on asphalt - the start via the main road is somewhat uncomfortable. An alternative would be to take the Postbus up to Hohtenn.

From Spilbielalpji, the downhill fun begins: a flowy, playful trail leads down to Tatz - from here it gets a little rougher. The terrain is dry, steep and sometimes technically demanding. The trail meanders over loose stones and small steps further down into the valley. After crossing the railroad line, the route winds down to Niedergesteln in a veritable orgy of hairpin bends - a descent that is both technically and scenically impressive. To roll out, follow a quiet side road back to Gampel.

Note: Depending on the snow conditions, the tour can be ridden very early in the year due to its southern exposure.

Tip: Extend the BLS Südrampe with this loop. In other words: Take the train to Hohtenn, then take the Tatz trail to the south ramp.

Cool tour. Basically not very difficult but there are quite a few loose stones, which is good for a 4/6 in terms of riding technique. The ascent can be reduced via BLS (start from Hohtenn)
