Melosa-Trail & Caravan-Trail

Colle Melosa (Molini)

The 16-kilometre-long ascent to Colle Melosa near Molini is rewarded with beautiful natural trails. Overall, the tour offers an enormously long descent with more than 10 kilometers of trails.

Description

If you want to save yourself the 16-kilometre ascent, book a shuttle with Riviera Bike, otherwise it's quite a long climb up to Colle Melosa. Then continue on gravel to the Rifugio Allavena (1545 meters above sea level). It's worth stopping for a bite to eat here, as the pasta is excellent. After refreshments, continue along the forest road for about 500 meters until the Melosa Trail branches off to the right. The wonderful nature trail is not too difficult, with long bends on the forest floor leading down to the vicinity of the reservoir. Once back at the SP67 road, cross it and join the Caravan Trail. This is another very flowy route. The difficulty level of the entire tour is in the S2 to S3 range. The condition of the entire descent is excellent thanks to the trail maintenance of British rider Adrian Nash from Riviera Bike! He is not only the first giude in the Argentiera Valley, but also maintains the trail network.

We rode the trail yesterday. It was absolutely awesome and highly recommended. An extremely long trail descent, just as promised. We rode the SuperBlu Trail from the very top instead of the Melosa Trail. It started just a few meters further ahead. It’s very well marked. The name says it all. It’s a little playground! The two trails rejoin just before the dam. The Refugio was closed. We were up there on a Wednesday. I don’t know if it’s always closed on Wednesdays, though. We were still able to get drinks, though.

This was our Molini warm-up tour on 10.4.25. Long ascent with the same gradient, the Refugio wasn't officially open yet, but we were still served cappuccino/cake 👍
The descent was super fun, Molini was great 🤘
