At a parking lot on the outskirts of Campiglia Marittima, you start the mostly moderately steep climb, which first rides over asphalt and then on gravel towards Monte Calvi. Short intermediate descents alternate with equally short, steep sections. At a fork in the forest, you leave the cart track and follow a narrow path uphill. Turning north, the path rides in a left-hand bend around the summit of Monte Calvi. Some sections are covered on foot, overcoming several rocky steps. Via side roads and dirt tracks, you pass a Roman bridge and then reach the starting point below Campiglia Marittima.
