Montioni
Description
Leaving the center of Follonica, you take the roads before crossing the main road "Aurelia" onto gravel and field paths. The first short ascent in a firebreak takes you to the trails, some of which ride through dense forests. There is another stretch of gravel road before the route takes you deeper into the Montioni Nature Park in a steady up and down. After a slightly longer trail ascent marked 13, you reach a firebreak and later turn right to continue gaining altitude in another firebreak. This is followed by a three-kilometre singletrail descent of superlatives. The Montioni trail meanders through the forest, partly open, partly bobsleigh track-like, and is pure riding fun.
On reaching the bottom, you conquer another firebreak, which climbs steeply in places, before entering the next super trail. The trail, known as the "Bob", is cut deep into the ground in places and allows you to take a berm with you. Once you reach the edge of the forest, keep left and follow the trail up and down to the hamlet of Montioni. You can fill up with water next to the restaurant there, even if the pub is closed.
In an alternation of forest road and trail, the route then climbs uphill again. At the highest point, keep left and a little later turn right onto the final singletrail "Santa Cruz" into a secluded valley. Another super trail with guaranteed flow that feels like it ends far too soon. You ride back towards civilization along a road through the valley. The starting point in Follonica is reached after a final short climb over a hill, although we recommend continuing to the nearby beach.

Cool tour with some fallen trees, on 06.10.24 with Mtb and eMtb
We rode the tour on 10.09.2024. It's actually a nice, albeit somewhat monotonous tour - the dense forest never really opens up the view of the landscape.
On the loop to Montioni, there are dozens of fallen trees across the path, making progress extremely difficult. The steeper sections of trail are mostly washed out, the summer's heavy rain has left its mark.
A no-go in its current condition.
We rode the tour in mid-June and started at Reka Golfo del Sole. It is an easy (technical) ride. Large parts are in the shade. It was fun.
I didn't do this exact tour (but the BOB Trail was included), but the Montioni Trail Park has dozens of trails that you can put together to form a gate. A worthwhile hill to have fun on.
