Monte Gouta
Description
The tour starts in Dolceacqua, from where the main road rides up to Isolabona. From Isolabona, after about 4.5 kilometers, turn left up the SP69 to the Rifugio Gola di Gouta. The approach is very long but all on tarred roads. Once you arrive at the Rifugio, you should definitely take a break - the pasta here is sensational.
Reenergized, we continue towards the French border and Monte Scarassan. From here, you start on a small forest path up and down, the path goes straight ahead, but you turn right and cross the forest road and ride (not easy to find) into the trail in the forest. The trail descends very steeply but with great flow on the forest floor until you reach a tarred road again, which leads back to the Refugio Gola di Gouta. Once here, the trail climbs steeply up to Monte Gouta opposite the refuge. Immediately before the summit, the path branches off to the left (difficult to find), and from there it is a fantastic but challenging trail (S3 to S4) towards the sea. In between, it goes up again towards Monte Morgi and from there down a very technical and steep descent past Monte Armetta until you reach a road to Dolceacqua. You ride down this road and can take another trail that ends just before Dolceaqua.

I rode the route from Sella di Gouta back to Dolceacqua - great downhill trail! Initially S2 through the forest and partly developed by mountain bikers, it later becomes more technical as described. S3 throughout with individual S4 sections with great views as far as Ventimiglia and the sea. The very last trail section is overgrown and slippery (summer 2023), so it is currently better to take the asphalt road down to the main road.
