Oswaldiberg

The area around Villach offers a variety of exciting combinations of singletrack trails that cater to riders of all skill levels. The challenging ride up Oswaldiberg, complete with its varied descent, is undoubtedly one of the region’s highlights.

Description

The ride begins north of Villach in the Sankt Leonhard district. From there, the route climbs up alongside Lake Vassach. On a mix of asphalt and gravel, riders cover nearly 400 meters of elevation gain to the summit of Oswaldiberg at 963 meters above sea level. The views during the ride are impressive, with the Carinthian Lake District in particular revealing its full splendor. At the top, there is also a church and an observation tower, which can be climbed for a fee.

The subsequent descent follows a first-class singletrack, which is mostly rated S2 in difficulty, with some sections rated S1, and leads back to the starting point via a short transfer section. This tour is ideal for hot summer days, allowing you to wind down the afternoon after your ride in the high temperatures at nearby Lake Ossiach.
