Steinplatte
Description
The starting point is the village of Waidring. From here, take the toll road to the parking lot below the ski area. From this parking lot, the route continues on asphalt to the Skywalk Triassic Park. Now the uphill changes to gravel and rides steeply up to the summit of the Steinplatte (1869 meters above sea level). You can take your bike with you for the last few meters to the summit, but the descent is not possible here and therefore only makes sense on foot. The summit offers a deluxe panorama, which is not a matter of course at this altitude. The Loferer Steinberge, Hohe Tauern, Grosser Rettenstein and Kitzbüheler Horn are in the field of vision and can be seen at their best in good conditions.
The descent is relatively easy at the beginning past the reservoir via some stairs and then a few Elevation loss on the gravel road, which the original trail was destroyed during construction work in the ski area. From the Skywalk Triassic Park, there are a few trail cut-offs before you turn left onto an old mule track parallel to the Steinplatte cable car. This leads down to Waidring with varying levels of difficulty from S1 to S2, even S3 in places. A seemingly endless descent and a dream in dry conditions. Once you arrive in Waidring, you can pedal back to the starting point in a relaxed manner.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
