The yellow is now only discreetly represented - the trademark of the Deemax rims for years was the eye-catching yellow on the rim and hubs. Now at least the rim is more discreet. Mavic has also expanded its range in the shoe sector and has remained true to the Deemax name.

French wheel pioneer Mavic is launching mountain bike wheels with carbon rims for the first time - the XA-Pro-Carbon. With an inner width of 26 millimetres, these are relatively wide for Mavic. Thanks to the clever design of the carbon fibers, the wheels should be very torsion-resistant but still offer sufficient comfort. In addition to the XA-Pro-Carbon, Mavic also offers the XA in aluminum versions.

The motto at Mavic is: wider and Boost. The two new Crossmax Pro and Elite wheelsets roll onto the trails on wider rims and are designed for the Boost standard. Visually, the French wheels are no slouch and come with matching tires.

It suits the wheels from France: technical service for all European markets will be handled in one center in the first half of 2015, in Annecy in the immediate vicinity of one of the production facilities. Ride asked Mavic briefly whether anything will change for Swiss customers.

Lighter, stiffer and more durable - these are three of the features that characterize the completely revised Crossmax series. The new series covers the suspension travel range from 100 to 180 millimetres.

From May 1 to June 30, 2010, Mavic is offering the purchaser of a Crossmax wheelset from the 2010 model year its "MP3" guarantee for just one franc per set.

A few weeks after the parent company Amer Sports decided to keep Mavic, the French component and bike fashion specialist has been given a new legal form. Since the beginning of the year, Mavic SAS has been organized as a legally independent company.

After more than a hundred years, Mavic no longer wants to celebrate success exclusively with bicycle components: in spring 2009, the French parts manufacturer will launch the first cycling clothing line under its own name.

Since the merger of two heavyweights in the sporting goods industry to form Adidas Salomon AG, Adidas Cycling and Mavic have belonged to the same company. Now the two cycling units are also being merged operationally, in France. The new "Mavic-Adidas Cycling" division is moving into the Salomon headquarters in Annecy. At the helm is Bernard Millaud, the previous Managing Director of Mavic.

It was one of the highlights at this year's fall trade fairs, but it will never reach the bike stores in the form shown back then: Because the "Crossmax SL" front wheel from Mavic (rim brake version) needs to be redesigned. Two filigree aluminum flanges, glued to the carbon fiber hub body, formed the supporting center of the wheel in the first design. What still held up in the prototypes no longer worked in the first production series: the flanges proved to be insufficiently torsionally rigid.

The rumor mill has been churning for a while, but now Mavic-Adidas Cycling has confirmed in a press release that distribution for the Swiss and Austrian markets will be taken over by the company itself as of September 1, 2004.

If the current owners have their way, Mavic will soon be placed in new hands. The parent company Amer is planning to sell the French component and bikewear brand.

Mavic offers its customers an extended warranty service for all new wheelsets. For an additional charge, the French wheel specialist covers damage to complete wheels that have been affected by falls or accidents for two years.
