Lopper-Seewligrat

Seewligrat

The Lopper and the Seewligrat are two singletrail highlights in the Lucerne region. They can be ideally combined into one tour, which can generally be ridden all year round thanks to the southern exposure.

Description

The ascent up to the Rengg Pass and thus to the start of the Lopper Trail usually begins in Hergiswil. The village is easily accessible by train from Lucerne. You then climb up a small road to Vorderrengg and turn left a little later to reach the Renggpass on a trail. This takes you 440 meters in altitude, then it's time for the descent. Initially, the trail descends only slightly, passing to the south of the Haslihorn, but then suddenly drops steeply and in serpentine mode towards Alpnachersee. You pass a gravel road and finally reach the lakeside road - all on single trails. Roll along this road to Stansstad and head uphill towards Bürgenstock. Follow this road to Obbürgen and then keep right. The Seewligrat ridge can already be seen on the right, which you later follow from the east and from which you finally follow the first-class singletrail descent down to the first houses of Stans. Finally, you roll leisurely down to Stansstad. Cycle back to Hergiswil along the cycle path or take the train back to your original starting point.

Big request from a farmer: please ride along the hiking trail near the chapel at Hinterrengg and do not cross the pasture fences. As already described by the previous speakers. The trail is only partially rideable anyway and mostly muddy and sloping. Thank you!!! :)

Really cool tour with almost 100% singletrail on the descents!
Lots of hikers at the weekend, especially on the Lopper, but with patience and friendliness we had no problems - rather surprised that anyone would venture down there on a bike :-D
Recommendation at km 4.7: it's better to descend the 50 m and then push up the hiking trail than to take the slippery path that promises to keep the altitude. The path is so slippery! No chance of riding, slippery without end with flat pedal shoes and a constant risk of slipping/falling. It may be possible with clipless shoes with studs on the other side, but otherwise it's just "pain in the a**"!

was a nice tour. I started in Kriens and then rode back to Kriens via the Loppertrail.
Except for the accident, captured on camera, it would have been a nice tour .-)

Why is the combination of Lopper and Seewligrat riding technique 2 when according to the ride the Lopper is already 3?

I rode the tour on 21.06.2017. The single trail from the Seewligrat is challenging and in the lower part it was closed, rockfall. The road was closed, shooting practice....!!!!???
Otherwise a great tour ending at the lido in Stansstad. I would give it three points for technique

A beautiful tour with two challenging downhills. The following comments apply:

If you are not interested in pushing your bike through a sloping cow pasture without a clear path and then climbing over a barbed wire fence, I recommend taking on 40 additional meters of altitude and aiming for the Renggpass via Hinter Rengg (Pt. 794).

The photo with the two bikers in the tunnel (Ride 05/2016, p. 92) is very well done. However, if you ride through this tunnel, you have definitely lost the suggested downhill route.
