Fulberg
Description
From Beckenried, the route initially follows the road up to Emmetten. The gondola lift that rides to the Niederbauen mountain station does not transport bikes. This is followed by an alpine road high above the extensive pastures until you finally have to conquer around 180 meters of altitude on foot on a steep trail up to the Fulberg. The view from the summit is excellent: The Lucerne part of Lake Lucerne lies to the right, while the Uri part can be seen steeply down in the valley to the left. After the pushing section, a first-class singletrail begins past Oberbauen. A little above the Stockhütte, the route climbs again to the Stafel, from where a small road takes you to the Bärenfallen and a rough trail to the small Steinstössi chapel. Climb up again briefly on a small road to finally return to Beckenried on single trails via Stockboden and Ankenberg.
Alternative: From Oberbauen through the Choltal valley back to Emmetten
Note: This tour leads partly through a riding ban. Riding the route is at the discretion and responsibility of each individual.

Cool tour (rode yesterday 19.06.2025)! As the train is not an option, we walk from Emmetten to Niederbauen - with a few more beads of sweat, but along a beautiful and pleasantly shady forest path. At the top, continue as described in the tour. Absolutely worthwhile!
We tried to do this tour yesterday, but the gondola doesnt take bikes. I asked if during the week they take bikes but the answer was negative, so this tour cannot be done this way. The Ride Trail Map should also be udpated, as the gondola to Stockhütte which is 300m away takes bikes but it is not shown as such in the map, while the gondola to Niederbauen doesnt take bikes
And still no bike transport by gondola in Emmetten
And still not...?
I was on the Fulberg with my E-Mtb, but partly on a slightly different route. At the top, there is a great view of Lake Uri on one side and Lake Lucerne near Beckenried and Wäggis on the other. I came up from Mättenmattalp, although I had to push most of the way up to the top. At the top, there is a difficult descent to the path that rides to Niederbauen station. However, I chose the trail back to Mättenalp, first along the ridge. I recorded the tour with the GoPro helmet camera and you can follow it on youtube or even ride along on the home trainer. The tour starts above Buochs with lots of lake views over Buochs, Beckenried and Emmetten. First I rode into the Choltal valley and wanted to take the alpine path up to Niederbauen at the back of the valley. When I got there, I realized that there is a general ban on riding there. Further back in the valley there is a trail up, but it was too steep for me, so I rode back and over the Stockalp to the far end of the valley. There is a nice trail there with a few short push sections and alpine paths up to Mättenalp. I rode back the same way to the turn-off into the Choltal at Wintereschlen, where an alpine trail leads down into the Choltal.
Hello gandergr
Which mountain road did you drive up exactly? The hiking trail from Choltal?
Thank you and greetings,
Mäsi
Beautiful tour. I rode it today.
A very steep mountain road leads to the mountain station of the cable car. But you have to fight your way up the additional 800m.

Unfortunately, the train no longer takes bikers. It is now also written at the bottom of the train: no bike transport. No exceptions are made. I tried it today. What a shame... A step backwards.
