Anarosa

The Alp Anarosa is located high up on the Schamserberg between Thusis and Splügen. While far down in the valley the traffic rolls southwards, up here you will find idyllic spots and great single trails in peaceful tranquillity.

Description

From Andeer, you initially roll to the left of the young Rhine to Clugin and then quickly gain altitude on a small road. This rides via Casti to Wergenstein. Follow the road for a few meters in the direction of Mathon, but soon turn left and climb up to the Dumagns and Tgavugl Alps. The road is still asphalted and allows for a quick and efficient ascent. This continues up to an altitude of 2330 meters above sea level, where the ascent is largely mastered. You now roll along a gravel road to the Curtginatsch, Nurdagn and Nera Alps, where the singletrail begins high above the Tgatscha gorge. This leads downhill to Promischur, where the 900-meter descent to Andeer begins. This includes a mix of single trails, old freight paths and gravel roads.

Last week I did part of this tour. From Wergenstein up to Dumagns and further up to Alp Anarosa which is a very wide area with 4 different alpine farms. On one of these 4, the Alp Nurdagn, I took a break in their Alpbeizli, then, instead of riding to Promischur as planned on this tour, I turned left after the Alp Nurdagn, before the Alp Nera, in the direction of Dumagns. This is a beautiful, sometimes challenging path through large fields of alpine roses, more than I have ever seen before. This Muntogne da Schons is my home village, where I spent a large part of my childhood. So it was interesting to return to the Schamserberg after more than 20 years. I also really enjoyed the mountain panorama. I also made a video of this tour and uploaded it to YouTube. The link to the video is:
