Beverin-Umrundung

The Piz Beverin towers mightily over the Domleschg. The summit cannot be reached by bike, but the circumnavigation works - if you have good riding technique. Thusis is the ideal starting point for this unforgettable day tour.

Description

In Thusis, it is best to take the Postbus and ride up to Zillis. Here you could now start the ascent under your own steam, but instead you take the serpentine road via Casti to Wergenstein. However, a post bus would also ride to this beautifully situated village, which would save you the 540 meters in altitude. A little north of Wergenstein, follow the asphalt mountain road up to Alp Dumagns until the road turns into a gravel path just above 2300 meters above sea level. Here you branch off to the right to Tguma and finally reach the Carnusapass. This section of the ascent is on a singletrail and consists of a mix of riding and pushing. Now it's time for the descent to the Tritthütta, a very challenging serpentine trail in alpine surroundings. After the Tritthüttä, the trail becomes a little smoother, but is still a tricky fellow. This continues until the Carnusabach. The bike now has to be pushed up a little over 200 meters in altitude to the Glaspass, before rolling down the road for a while, then turning left and finally reaching Obergmeind. The long final descent through the Heinzenberg to Thusis awaits, which consists of a mix of single trails and small roads.
