Crap Furo (Mittelpunkt von Graubünden)

Crap Furo (Albulatal)

If you like single trails, you'll be happy in the Albula Valley. Especially on the route to Crap Furo, the geographical center of Graubünden. In combination with the ascent to the Alvaneuer Alp (Aclas), the circular tour is unparalleled trail fun.

Description

After the start in Surava, it's straight down to the wire. A steep gravel road leads to Crap Furo, 250 meters above sea level. Here you are at the geographical center of Graubünden, but also at a spectacular rock tower in the middle of the forest. The rock is the starting point of a first-class but narrow single trail through the fairytale-like forest. The trail climbs a little again and again, finally reaching the start of the descent at a viewpoint. An initially challenging trail, which then gets faster and faster, leads from here to the Alvaneu golf course on the valley floor. If you are already at the end of your tether, follow the signposted bike route along the Albula river to Surava. This version of the route now takes you to the second highlight of the day: the Aclas descent. To do this, you climb from Alvaneu Bad on an asphalt road up to Alvaneu Dorf, from where a gravel road leads to Aclas Davains. The lovely alpine pasture is considered one of the most beautifully situated Maiensässe in Central Grisons. Unfortunately, no one has yet come up with the idea of running an inn up here. It would be the ideal place for us to stop for refreshments before the descent. This leads from Aclas Davains a few more meters up the mountain until you reach an old super path on the south side in the direction of Alvaneu. Above the village, you cross the stream and then immediately tackle the next old super trail. Here you have to descend a few meters on foot at the start before the trail leads in the best trail style to the shooting range at the Crappa Naira post bus stop. Follow the road for a few meters, climb up a little towards the Belfort ruins and then reach the last and wonderful section of trail that leads directly to the center of Surava.

Rode it for the second time, a great tour away from the hustle and bustle. The tour can also be started and finished very easily from Tiefencastel station, with a varied trail leading to Surava on the left side of the river. The uphill is challenging throughout, but easy to ride thanks to the good condition of the trail. In summer, the predominantly very narrow trails can only be guessed at in places due to the vegetation, which slows down the flow somewhat. Therefore more worthwhile in spring.

Wonderful tour, only the luck of the last trail descent is currently denied. The reason: closures due to the recent landslide. Alternatively back on the pass road...

Super tour! Plenty of fountains along the way, so it was doable on a muscle bike despite the sunny side and heat. Everything snow-free :-)

Flowy spring tour with a great descent to Alvaneu/ Surava. Unfortunately, there is still too much snow at the moment, so it may only be recommended from April!

The start in Surava is about 500m flat :-) Then it's a steep climb on gravel roads. Past the small "Crap Furo" and after 250m it goes to the big "Crap Furo".
A really big rock tower just like that in the forest. Well, they say it's the center of Graubünden, but it's actually 213 m next to the rock, to the east-southeast.
From there you can ride the beautiful trail. A short push but the trail is beautiful.
I can imagine that there are a lot of hikers on the trail during vacation periods and especially in summer.
Once back at the bottom, ride past the Alvaneu golf course and then up to Alvaneu village. From there, head towards Aclas Davains, one of the most beautiful Maiensässe in Central Grisons. However, you still have to fight your way up the climb.
From there a few more meters up and then comes the singletrail fun until shortly before the end, where another few meters up towards the ruins of Belfort Castle have to be made. Final spurt directly to Surava.
All in all, nothing spectacular. But it was still fun! See video........

Rode on 30.5.21. Really very nice tour. 1st part very narrow trails. Every now and then a foot on the ground brings a little more safety. 3-4 trees still block the way. But these are easy to master. Highly recommended

Super tour, without a summit experience and challenging passages, but with many fine trails in a varied and beautiful area - without any "density stress". The trail entrances in the second part have to be looked for a bit as they are not marked - so it is best to follow the track exactly.

The first descent is absolutely boring.

I rode this great tour today. Magnificent (really narrow) single trails in the beautiful Albula valley. Not too technically demanding but very fun. Easily doable with an e-bike. A clear recommendation from me for this tour. You can also start in Tiefencastel and follow the trails along the river to Surava. Ride on!

Beautiful and varied bike tour. In my opinion, riding technique rating 2 rather than 3.

Super tour. Especially the second part, a fantastic descent!
