Finale Borderline

Borderline (Finale)

A beautiful loop not far from Finale Ligure takes you along a ridge towards Orco and after a carrying passage you reach the start of the Borderline Trail, which is often ridden as a stage in the EWS.

Description

From Finale Ligure, you ride up to the San Bernadino district. At the very top, where the houses end, the Cucco cart path begins, leading along the ridge and later becoming a trail. Depending on the weather, it can be a little tricky, especially in the second part. It goes steeply downhill in places and just as steeply uphill again. Shortly before Orco, you come out onto the tarred road to Orco and ride along it to the right until you reach the Dall'Orco restaurant. It is worth having lunch here. The route then enters the forest and a very steep climb follows. You have to push or carry your bike until you reach the start of the Borderline Trail. The trail is fast and has rocky steep sections. The lower part is very steep and the trail ends at a cart track. This rough cart track called Cornei leads you to San Lorenzino. Here you join the tarmac road and ride to Orco and on via Boragni into the Calvisio Valley and back to Finale Ligure.

very little traffic, the last third is not worthwhile as there is a lot of gravel up to Orco and then only tar descent from Orco
