Monte Carmo – Karma-Trail
Description
Start the tour at the parking lot behind Finalborgo or take the shuttle for the 14-kilometre climb up to the Colle del Melogno junction. The forest road through the Barbottina forest begins on the left. After about eight kilometers you reach the Gidgo di Giustenice pass. From here, the path to Monte Carmo branches off steeply to the right. Now you have to carry and push your bike for around 40 minutes to reach the summit of Monte Carmo. A gigantic view of the Ligurian coast and the surrounding mountains awaits you here.
Now it's time for the Karma Trail. In 2017, it was the first and only royal stage of the EWS. The riders back then said it was the most difficult stage they had ever ridden. The trail has it all with a length of almost seven kilometers and 1100 Elevation loss. It offers rocky, blocked terrain over its entire length - you are really challenged here. You definitely need to be in good shape and have good riding technique in order to survive here. Return via Loano and along the coastal road to Finale Ligure. The difficulty level of the Karma Trail ranges from S3 to S4. Not recommended in wet conditions, by the way.

rode the tour in May 21, but shuttled to Colle di Melogno.
Great tour, good weather and apart from a few hikers at the top of Monte Carmo, didn't meet anyone.
Rode last week. Pedaled it all myself for about 1500m. Really great trail, apart from a few key sections everything was ridden. Just right for technical fans.
